Damauli, April 7 (RSS): A technical school has been established at Puttar of Ghiring rural municipality-1 in Tanahu, the district in Gandaki state, as per the government announcement to operate at least one such school at every local level.
The Kaligandaki Technical School established under the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) was inaugurated amidst a programme here Saturday though classes here had begun on November 18 last year. It was formally opened on the witness of Gandaki state Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Kiran Gurung.
On the occasion, he said skilled human resources were required to materialise the dream of a prosperous Nepal and only the technical education could produce such human properties.
He highlighted the need of promoting technical and vocational education as the conventional education system had largely produced unemployed resources. As he said, the State government was planning to have its own technical university.
Former secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha was of the view that the rampant unemployment problem could be addressed through the production of technical human resources while rural municipality Chair Ran Bahadur Rana pledged the full support on behalf of the local government to operate the school.
CTEVT Gandaki Chief Bhuwaneshwor Dhungana advised the school to introduce programmes being based on the demand and relevance. According to school Chief Govinda Poudel, the school started the classes on forestry on November 18. Thirty-seven students have been enrolled in the quota for 40 students.
They are from Jumla, Rukum Darchula, Bajura, Jajarkot, Salyan and Humla. The school has not its own building and the local Krishna Secondary School has provided it space for running the classes. According to him, it is likely to get its own building before the upcoming Dashain as the State government has already allocated Rs five million for the same.
