The School of Management at Tribhuvan University, located in Kirtipur, Kathmandu (SOMTU), successfully conducted its inaugural Graduate Conference on January 24, 2025, at the SOMTU premises. This event was organized by SOMTU in collaboration with its Research and Publications Club and received support from the Events Club and Vmag. It convened distinguished dignitaries, academicians, and students from various regions throughout Nepal.
The opening session was led by Prof. Dr. Mahananda Chalise, Chairperson of the SOMTU Governing Board and Dean of the Faculty of Management. Prof. Dr. Kedar Prasad Rijal, the Registrar of Tribhuvan University, served as the Chief Guest. SOMTU Deputy Director Phul Prasad Subedi anchored the session, and a welcoming address was presented by SOMTU Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Govinda Tamang.
Special guests of honor included Former Dean Prof. Dr. Dilli Raj Sharma and Former Director Prof. Dr. Pushpa Raj Sharma. The keynote session, moderated by Sanjib Subba, Founder of Kathmandu FinteK and Chairperson of the SDG Sub-Platform for Green Finance, featured an insightful speech by Dr. Saumendra Mohanty, Professor and Area Chair (Business Analytics & AI) at Lloyd Business School, India. Dr. Mohanty’s presentation, titled "AI as a Strategic Inflection Point: Reshaping Business Leadership in the Age of Intelligence," captivated the audience.
The conference featured 26 presenters from diverse disciplines, including Human Resources, Marketing, Information Technology, Finance, and Education. Master's-level students from 12 different colleges in Nepal shared academic insights and practical applications in their fields. During the closing ceremony, Rabin Prasad Khatiwada, Vice President of the SOMTU Research and Publications Club, presented a comprehensive report summarizing the conference's key discussions and outcomes. This inaugural event exemplified SOMTU’s commitment to fostering collaboration between academia and students, promoting knowledge sharing, and driving innovation.
