SEE Schedule Faces Uncertainty as Earthquake Impact Spurs Possible Extension

The likelihood of extending the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) for the academic year 2080 has heightened by several weeks. The seismic effects of the earthquake in Jajarkot and Pashchim Rukum districts have raised concerns about the potential disruption of education, impacting the SEE schedule.

Nandalal Paudel, the controller of the Class 10 examination at the National Examination Board (NEB), expressed that the SEE timetable faced uncertainty due to the earthquake's repercussions in these regions. Paudel remarked, "Reports indicate a significant disruption to education in those districts. Consequently, there is a possibility of delaying the SEE by a few weeks. The exams may be conducted simultaneously with other districts or in two phases, aligning with the situation in those specific districts."

To address the situation, board officials are planning visits to Jajarkot and Pashchim Rukum in the upcoming weeks. A comprehensive assessment of the circumstances will be conducted, leading to a decision on whether to proceed with nationwide exams concurrently or in two phases, synchronized with the conditions in the affected districts.

Adding to the complexity, a formal request to postpone the examination has been submitted from both Jajarkot and Pashchim Rukum. The board had previously outlined its intention to conduct the SEE in the first week of Chaitra, as stated in the public notice. Last year, the examination took place starting from Chaitra 06. The final decision on the SEE schedule will be contingent upon the findings of the board officials' assessments in the earthquake-affected districts.
