SAIM College Hosts Robotics, AI, and IoT Workshop for BCSIT Students

SAIM College recently concluded a successful two-day workshop on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT), specifically tailored for its Bachelor of Computer Science and Information Technology (BCSIT) students.

25 students actively participated in the workshop, which was held on Monday and Tuesday (August 12 and 13) at the college's premises. This event marked a significant step for SAIM College, which introduced the BCSIT program earlier this year.

The college's primary goal for the workshop was to provide students with a practical, hands-on experience in the emerging fields of information technology. This was achieved through a comprehensive exploration of robotics, AI, and IoT, organized in collaboration with Balio Ventures Pvt. Ltd. Santosh Shrestha, the BCSIT Program Associate, emphasized the relevance of IoT in Nepal, stating, "The workshop aimed to explore the practical integration of IoT into our daily lives."

The workshop also examined the current state of AI and its potential future applications. "Students were introduced to various AI tools currently available in the market," said Shrestha, adding, "They also learned about the present use of AI within the Nepali context."

In addition, the workshop provided valuable insights into the application of robotics in Nepal. "We believe students gained a fresh perspective on robotics development in the country," Shrestha noted. A highlight of the event was the demonstration of a Nepali-made robot named Sarthi, designed to detect accidents and communicate in Nepali. Students had the opportunity to interact with Sarthi and pose their questions.

Bishal Shrestha, Vice-Principal of SAIM College, emphasized the workshop's importance in fostering academic and extracurricular engagement. "SAIM College has prioritized practical learning since its inception, and this workshop is a testament to that tradition," he said. "Our blend of theoretical and practical education has solidified our 19-year reputation as a leading IT college."
