Prof. Dr. Rajesh Nath Gongal has been appointed in the position of vice-chancellor (VC) of Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS). Officiating the appointment was the Chancellor of PAHS, Prime Minister KP Oli.
He did his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Darbhanga Medical College in India from 1981 to 1988 as an awardee under the Colombo plan. He completed the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FCRS) in 1993.
Former Dean, Prof. Dr. Gongal had previously been facilitating in the capacity of Rector at PAHS before being appointed in the position of VC. He is the founding chairman and consultant at Hospice Nepal, founding chairman at Primary Trauma Care Nepal, and founding president at Nepal Ambulance Service. Besides that, he currently presides as Chief Editor of the Journal of Society of Surgeons of Nepal (JSSN) and many relevant positions at different health institutions and research institutes.
Similarly, the new VC has also written many papers and published them in reputed national and international medical journals, including the handbook of basic surgery skills and the handbook of palliative care.
