Prof Bhusan Shrestha is appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Far Western University. Prof. Shrestha is close to Nepali Congress and has been recommended from the quota of Nepali Congress. The VC post of Far Western University was lying vacant for some time as recommendations could not be made in time. Professor Bhusan Shrestha is the first Female VC of Nepal.
Chancellor and Prime Minister Shushil Koirala has appointed her as a Vice-Chancellor (VC). The name was recommended by a committee which is chaired by Education Minister Chitra Lekha Yadav.
According to legal provisions, a committee led by the pro-chancellor recommends the name and cabinet appoints VC in line with the recommendation.
The committee, however, is yet to pick the names of VC for the remaining three universities as CPN-UML and UCPN (Maoist) are yet to provide the names.
