First Convocation Ceremony of Patan Academy of Health Sciences Held

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, known as 'Prachanda', has emphasized the importance of vigilance as new challenges continue to emerge in the healthcare sector. Speaking at the First Convocation Ceremony of the Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS), the Prime Minister stressed the need for concerted efforts to address the issues prevalent in healthcare. He highlighted the necessity for the academy to bolster its infrastructure to effectively tackle any forthcoming challenges, emphasizing the imperative of enhancing hospital services to meet higher standards of quality and efficacy.

In line with his commitment to rural healthcare, Prime Minister Dahal underscored the significance of cultivating skilled medical professionals with a strong sense of social responsibility. Recognizing the predominantly rural composition of Nepal, he emphasized the need to extend healthcare services to these areas, particularly underscored by the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prime Minister Dahal reiterated the government's prioritization of capacity-building in public hospitals, urging PAHS to spearhead initiatives aimed at improving healthcare accessibility and quality. He emphasized the importance of providing specialized healthcare services tailored to the unique social, cultural, and environmental factors affecting community health.

Highlighting the commendable collaboration between PAHS and local governments in implementing health insurance programs and community-based services, Prime Minister Dahal commended these efforts as exemplary.

Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of establishing an integrated medical science academy to streamline medical education and healthcare services, addressing existing duplications and ensuring effective management, operation, and regulation of healthcare institutions nationwide.
