Prime Minister Calls For A Nationwide Awareness Campaign To Promote The Teachings Of Buddha

Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has announced a nationwide awareness campaign for the foundational education flow based on the principles of Gautam Buddha.

During the 15th meeting of Lumbini Buddhist University held on Falgun 19, 2080, both the Chancellor and Prime Minister 'Prachanda' conveyed a message of peace, emphasizing the crucial role of various communities and the university in promoting awareness.

The Prime Minister stated, "To disseminate knowledge on Buddha, Buddhist philosophy, culture, and tradition among the people across the nation, the university must conduct a nationwide awareness campaign for foundational education based on the teachings of Buddha."

Referring to Buddhism's rich and continuous tradition, extending from ancient history to an invaluable source for anthropology and Buddhist studies worldwide, Prime Minister Prachanda suggested a comprehensive approach to developing the cultural, religious, and tourism sectors. He recommended that the university advance new programs to preserve, promote, and coordinate Buddhist tradition and culture.

"Nepal is not just the land of Buddha but has also been built by the contributions of thousands of sages," said the Prime Minister. "Therefore, Nepal is the center of global faith and devotion, and our responsibility is to enhance it."

Acknowledging Buddhist heritage's cultural, artistic, and architectural treasures, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed confidence that integrating such structures with economic prosperity would contribute to building a prosperous nation. He proposed the university conduct research, collaboration, and promotion activities in Buddhist art, literature, and archaeology for the country's glory.

Stressing the need for the country to become a unique center for Buddhist culture, he suggested that the three stupas in the Kathmandu Valley, like the practice grounds of yogis, are part of the rich Buddhist heritage in Nepal. He believed proper conservation, coordination, and promotion of these structures would attract many tourists, contributing significantly to the economy.

Prime Minister Prachanda mentioned the importance of creating a distinctive Buddhist culture in Nepal, stating that the three stupas could be preserved and promoted appropriately to attract many tourists. He entrusted Lumbini Buddhist University with the leadership to achieve this goal.

Highlighting the potential for economic development by attracting tourists interested in yoga, meditation, natural beauty, and love for peace, the Prime Minister commended the university's research, collaboration, and promotion activities in Buddhist culture, arts, literature, and spirituality. He expressed his confidence that the leadership of Lumbini Buddhist University would lead to the growth of Buddhist education globally, and he encouraged more students from foreign universities to study in Lumbini.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Prachanda emphasized that the responsibility for developing Buddhist education lay with Lumbini Buddhist University and encouraged its continuous growth.
