Padma Kanya Multiple Campus Launches BHM+ with Global Internships Supported by Scholarships

Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, exclusively dedicated to female students, is taking the proactive step of arranging internships for its students in several renowned star hotels, restaurants, and accommodations in Nepal, Dubai and Bahrain, under the leadership of Campus Chief Prof. Dr. Jayalaxmi Pradhan. This initiative is being touted as a pioneering effort in Nepal by the campus.

The campus has also asserted that it successfully established connections with its inaugural group of students and facilitated their internships at hotels in Nepal, Dubai, and Bahrain.

As part of the program, Harikala Bhusal has embarked on the Waiters Internship Scholarship at the Laguna Beach Resort and Spa in Bahrain, while Rashmi Poudel has embarked on the Food and Beverage Service Internship Scholarship at the same resort.

Likewise, Nisha Khatri is currently participating in a receptionist internship program at Laguna Beach Resort and Spa in Bahrain, while Pratishka Bhandari has embarked on an internship scholarship in Food and Beverage Service at the same resort.

Additionally, Riza Shrestha and Rozina Khadka are engaged in culinary kitchen internship scholarships at Hyatt Regency Dubai and Galleria Dubai, respectively.

Sonia Chemjong, another student, is currently undertaking a Food and Beverage Service Placement Support program at the Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu. Meanwhile, Nirmaya Chaudhary Tharu is participating in a Food and Beverage Service Placement Support Scholarship program at the Radisson Hotel in Kathmandu.

The campus extends a scholarship of Rs 75,000 to each student when they are sent for international internships. The campus has conveyed that it does not impose any extra charges on students for the vocational courses it has introduced. In the "Hospitality Soft Skills" program, instructors from Padma Kanya, in collaboration with representatives from the Hotel Association Nepal, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, as well as the Nepal Tourism Board, oversee the instruction.

These non-credit courses encompass a range of workshops, such as Barista Training, Bartending, Ice Sculpting, and Fruit and Vegetable Carving Workshops.

When Nepali students embark on international internships, they often face the responsibility of covering visa consultancy fees. To ease this financial burden, students have taken the initiative to negotiate agreements directly with foreign hotels, facilitating their own internships.

Padma Kanya Multiple Campus, in affiliation with Tribhuvan University, has introduced the BHM+ program, a global first. This pioneering program offers students the opportunity to gain insights into the hospitality industry while incorporating elements from the BHM curriculum. The primary goal of the program is to cultivate proficient professionals vital for the hotel and tourism sector. It encompasses a wide range of subjects, including hotel management, tourism management, and hospitality, to equip students with comprehensive practical expertise. The core objective is to empower students with the indispensable skills and knowledge necessary for success in the fields of hotels, tourism, and related industries.

Students will also be able to obtain different scholarships. Among these, the Tribhuvan University Scholarships offer full scholarships to 10% of students in partnership with the Hotel and Tourism Industry, while the Jehendar Scholarships extend full scholarships to 10% of female students. Furthermore, the Incentive Scholarships are granted to students who demonstrate outstanding performance in their semester-end examinations.

Similarly, the campus has conveyed its commitment to running scholarship initiatives in collaboration with local authorities, aiming to enhance higher education accessibility for disadvantaged and marginalized young women within the local community. Furthermore, the University Grants Commission extends scholarship opportunities to students.

Assistant Professor Umesh Regmi, who has taken the lead in orchestrating essential efforts with governmental and non-governmental entities to secure additional scholarships, has indicated that the campus envisions a future where it can provide full scholarships in BHM education to all students through various channels.
