Need for academic research stressed

Speakers at a function organised here today stressed the imperative need for conducting academic research activities in universities and their campuses.


At the function organised by the Research Committee of Public Youth Campus, Tribhuvan University to formally launch the ‘PYC Nepal Journal of  Management’ Sunday, was launched publicly amid a function organised in Kathmandu, university academics underscored the need for prioritizing research works in the academic    institutions. If they were to ensure quality education,limiting themselves only to the teaching activity was not enough, but there must be regular research programmes, they said.

Releasing the management journal, chief guest of the programme and Campus Chief Associate Prof. Geeta Malla highlighted the research activities being conducted by the campus. She also made a call on all university teachers and researchers to contribute to the campus’ campaign  towards institutionalising the research function in the  academic sector.

Research Committee   Chief Prof. Dr. Subarna   Lal Bajracharya spoke   about the value of unbiased  review and evaluation of   research articles meant for   the journal. Highlighting   the editorial policy, Prof.   Bajracharya said the journal has started a ‘blind review’ of articles that complies   with the internationally accepted practice.

“We have tried to give quality of international journals in the four volumes of the journal and will continue our effort towards improving the quality,” Dr.  Bajracharya said.

Highlighting the rational of the programme, journal editorial board member A. Sthapit described the academic research and teaching as the two indispensable halves of any university or academic institution. “Since the  actions speak louder than words, we have organised the public launching of the journal only after publishing four volumes since 2008,” he added.
