NEB Nears Final Phase for SEE Results 2079

National Examination Board is on the final phase of announcing the results for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) 2079. However, a determination is pending regarding the inclusion or exclusion of letter grading in the results, in accordance with the guidelines.

On 7th Poush 2078, the Letter Grading Guideline, 2078 was introduced for the first time through a ministerial decision. Subsequently, a few months later, on 18th Falgun 2078, the guideline underwent its first amendment, stipulating that students scoring less than 35 points in theory would receive an unclassified (non-graded) designation for their results, and they would not be issued the original certificate.

However, in the previous year, owing to the impact of the COVID-19, the board opted to announce the results using the previous grading system. This decision was made considering the difficulties faced by students due to the challenging nature of online learning.

The board is currently engaged in discussions to determine the appropriate course of action for the upcoming year.

According to Exam Controller Bishnu Narayan Shrestha, the board is in the process of finalizing a decision on this matter and intends to release the results within the current week. In accordance with the letter grading system of 2072, once the results are published, students scoring between 30 to 40 marks, 20 to 30 marks, and less than 20 marks will also receive respective letter grades as shown below.

Percentage (%) Grade Description Grade Point
90 to 100 A+ Outstanding 4
80 to below 90 A Excellent 3.6
70 to below 80 B+ Very Good 3.2
60 to below 70 B Good 2.8
50 to below 60 C+ Satisfactory 2.4
40 to below 50 C Acceptable 2
30 to below 40 D+ Partially Acceptable 1.6
20 to below 30 D Insufficient 1.2
Below 20 E Very Insufficient 0.8

Publication of Results to Proceed According to Annual Timetable

The board is preparing to release the results of the SEE exam during the third week of Asadh. Controller Shrestha has mentioned that the board is currently swiftly reassessing the marks of the students in the final stage of entry after they have accomplished their tasks.

A total of 485,396 students took part in the SEE examination conducted from 17th Chaitra 2079.

According to Controller Shrestha, the board has put in greater effort this year to minimize errors in the results compared to previous examinations held at the 2037 examination centers. The board aims to deliver the results to the concerned parties promptly and has already released a public notice inviting organizations interested in publishing the results to submit their applications.

As per Controller Shrestha, a question paper that caters to the needs of individuals with disabilities was specifically developed for this year's SEE examination. To accommodate visually impaired students, the resource center itself served as the examination sub-centre. Moreover, for the first time, optional questions were incorporated into the subjects of Science, English, and Social Studies.

In the current SEE, graded question papers were utilized for the subjects of Science, English, and Mathematics. Controller Shrestha explains that adopting standardized question papers ensures that questions will not be repeated for a duration of five years, resulting in zero repetition of questions.
