MoU Signed between KMC Innovation Center and Idea Studio Nepal

Kathmandu Model College signed an MOU between KMC Innovation Center and Idea Studio Nepal (ISN). The MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by representatives of KMC’s undergraduate students, faculties, management, and board of directors along with management representatives of Idea Studio Nepal. The ceremony was successfully completed on 2:30 pm, 10th January 2021 at Kathmandu Model College, Bagbazar, Kathmandu.

Kathmandu Model College (KMC), established in 2000 AD, has proven success in running School, Higher Secondary School in Science, Management, Humanities & Law; Bachelor Level in BBA, BBM, BCA, BA, BBS, BSW, BE in Civil, Computer, Electronics & Communication, BSc. CSIT, B. Arch and Master Level program in MA (English) and MBS; under KMC Educational Network, reflecting strong strength in the academic arena. Furthermore, KMC is growing to be a global standard academic an institution with more focused on providing 21st century skills, pedagogy and resources to the students.

KMC Innovation Center is a lab-based innovation, business incubation, student service and research centre. Resources of KMC Innovation Center are not limited to KMC education network but welcomes nation-wide all learning and innovation enthusiasts.

Idea Studio Nepal enables potential entrepreneurs with innovative business ideas addressing social-economic environmental issues faced by local communities across the country. The Idea Studio Nepal’s approach is based on core values promoting social innovation, to ignite investments, for social justice, through knowledge creation, and eventually restoring human dignity. KMC Innovation Center takes the opportunity to collaborate and grow mutually with ISN to provide better opportunities and connect another dot towards innovation, entrepreneurship development and research.


KMC Innovation Center and Idea Studio Nepal signed 3-year (expandable) MOU to enable KMC Innovation Center with more experienced expertise working closely to enhance the impact of the innovation centre towards all stakeholders of KMC, students, teachers, management, parents, community and the entire nation at large. 


The ceremony started at 1:00 pm with a brief program plan, highlights by Mr. Rochak Bohora; Head of KMC Innovation Center and Student Development. It was followed by a welcome note and a brief introduction to the mission of KMC in educational transformation by Mr. Surendra Subedi; Principal of KMC. Accordingly, Mr. Rupesh Krishna Shrestha and Dr. Tshering Lama representing Idea Studio presented keynotes on “Idea Studio – Incubation Model” and “Necessity of Innovation Center” respectively. Right before signing MOU, Mr. Rameshwor Aryal, Chairman of KMC, highlighted and highly appreciated the ongoing journey of KMC towards progressive and innovative education. Finally, the main attraction of the event, MOU was signed by Mr. Rameshwor Aryal, Chairman of Kathmandu Model College (KMC) and Dr. Tshering Lama, Executive Chairman of Idea Studio Nepal (ISN). KMC felicitated Mr Sagar Dhakal, the Alumnus of KMC for his innovation in producing small scale hydroelectricity which is under the registration of Patent Right.


This MOU has been developed and finalized in a spirit of cooperation and assistance to promote entrepreneurship among students in KMC through the introduction of the Idea Studio Model. The aim is to draw relevancy in the 21st Century and nurture students who are nationally capable and whose talent is globally sellable. Alongside, the college also aimed to develop this innovation centre as the centre of research and innovation at par with national and international students with KMC. KMC and ISN signed a major 11 points and 9 sub-points of understanding in the ceremony.

This MoU is based on the following strategies:

  • Development of entrepreneurial culture and mindset among the students and faculties involved

  • Develop a Knowledge creation hub for entrepreneurship and innovation

  • Exploring international collaboration and global engagement

After the MOU signing program, it had a feedback sharing session with students, faculty and management present in the ceremony. The college saw enthusiastic support and encouraging feedbacks from the by the student, faculty and management representatives. The event was concluded with a group photo and snacks program.
