Most officials of universities, including Tribhuvan University (TU) VC Prof Heera Maharjan, and community school teachers have not submitted their property details for years. According to a National Vigilance Centre report, some 106,087 teachers have not submitted property details so far.
Although there are some 125,000 teachers working, only 1,766 have submitted the details. Some 107,853 permanent teachers work in 32,000 community schools in the country at present. As per the report, TU Service Commission Chairman Ishwor Chandra Dutta, KU VC Suresh Raj Sharma, PU VC Prof Maheswor Man Shrestha, Nepal Sanskrit University VC Prof Shivahari Marhattha, Pokhara University VC Prof Khagendra Bhattarai, Far Western University VC Jayaraj Awasthi, Mid-Western University VC Padamlal Devkota and Lumbini University VC Triratna Manandhar have also not submitted the property details.
As per the Corruption Control Act-2059 BS, officials have to submit details of their properties within 60 days of the end of a fiscal year.
