Lumbini Banijya Campus Set to Become a Deemed University and Expand its Academic Offerings

Butwal, Lumbini Province - Lumbini Banijya Campus, a renowned educational institution established 43 years ago, is on the path to becoming a multidisciplinary campus and a deemed university. The Chairman of the Campus Management and Development Committee, Motilal Pandey, highlighted the significant progress made in the development plan during the 13th meeting of the committee.

With a current focus on management programs, Lumbini Banijya Campus envisions expanding its academic horizons to include science and technology disciplines. Chairman Pandey expressed his determination to establish the campus as a renowned university and shape it into a center of excellence.

To accomplish this goal, Chairman Pandey unveiled plans to acquire a sprawling 30-bigha plot of land in Charpala, Butwal, which will serve as the foundation for the university structure. Tribhuvan University has already granted approval to the campus, which currently operates five self-funded programs.

The campus offers a two-year Master of Management Studies (MMS) program and a four-year Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Technology (BBA-IT) program, both based on the semester system adopted by Tribhuvan University.

Campus Chief Professor Dr. Taraprasad Upadhyay proudly shared that all faculty members have diligently ensured the quality and accreditation of the campus. The University Grants Commission has also shown its support by providing funding twice, in 2068 and 2075, for quality assurance and accreditation (QAA).

In 2037, the Lumbini Management Study Center, previously operating informally, received affiliation from Tribhuvan University and began conducting classes under the name Lumbini Banijya Campus. Subsequently, in 2042, the campus introduced undergraduate programs, followed by the successful launch of the MBA program in 2057.

Campus Chief Upadhyay confidently proclaimed that Lumbini Banijya Campus is not only the premier educational institution in Lumbini Province but also ranks among the top campuses nationwide. In 2075, the campus achieved unparalleled recognition among community campuses across the country, with students earning an impressive 12 gold medals from Tribhuvan University, showcasing their exceptional academic achievements.
