Kindergarten Montessori pre-school set up in Tamang community

Kathmandu, March 22 (RSS): A Kindergarten Montessori pre-school has been established on the premises of Ugratara Secondary School based in Ghumarchowk of Shankharapur municipality-8, Kathmandu. 

The establishment of the school named Inka Kindergarten Montessori Pre School was supported by Germany-based Herz Fur Kinder and Kinder Hilfe Nepal as a respect to German celebrity Inka. 

It cost around Rs 10 million. It has a kitchen, dining hall, guardians’ room and child-friendly class rooms and toilets. 

The school provides the clean drinking water, school uniform and meal for students free of cost. The kindergarten was inaugurated by State Assembly member Maniram Phuyal and Kinder Hilfe Nepal chair Heike Kunze amidst a ceremony on Thursday. 

Teachers hired for the kindergarten were given Montessori teaching training. 

On the occasion, SA member Phuyal said the establishment of the Montessori school in the Tamang-majority community would help provide quality education to children of the area. He stressed the need of support of donor agencies in the sector of basic needs like education and health. 

According to Kunze, the organization continues to provide physical infrastructure support and educational materials to community schools in different parts of the country so that they would provide quality education of children. 

The organization so far since 1991 has assisted various schools in Solukhumbu, Kathmandu, Gorkha, Dhading and Palpa. Shankharapur municipality mayor Suwarna Shrestha said the local government was committed towards the need of compulsory education for every child within the municipality and was working accordingly. 

School management committee chair and ward chair Hitman Tamang presided over the programme. 

According to school principal Dambar Bahadur Ghalan, the school established in 2019 BS was upgraded to the secondary level entity in 2071 BS. 

Of total 200 school students at present, 99.5 percent are from the Tamang community.
