The National Examinations Board has announced the completion of the preparations for the Secondary Education Examination (SEE), scheduled for Chaitra 15 onwards. For the SEE examination of the current year (2080), 2,557 examination centers have been allocated nationwide.
Dr. Mahashram Sharma, the Chairman of the Board, disclosed that the selection of examination centers has been based on the number of examinations, starting from Chaitra 15 and concluding on the 27th. He estimated that approximately five lakh students from all corners of the country will participate in the SEE examination this year. Additionally, he noted the establishment of a test center in Japan for this year's examination.
The Board has produced five lakh question papers for the examination. Mr. Nandalal Paudel, the examination controller for grade 10, indicated that although 4,414 students had completed the examination form, there might have been a decrease in the number of students on the day of the examination.
Paudel mentioned that the required question papers for the examination have been dispatched to the police offices of 76 districts across the country. Furthermore, he specified that the examination papers will be delivered to the examination centers in each district only a day prior to the commencement of the examination. "The question papers for each subject will be delivered to the respective examination centers with the assistance of security personnel a few hours before the start of the examination," he elaborated.
Paudel also provided information regarding the distribution of necessary answer sheets and other materials for the examination to all seven provinces. He highlighted ongoing preparations at the provincial and district levels for conducting the assessment under the coordination of the respective District Examination Coordination Committees.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology released the 'Letter Grading Directive, 2078' from the ministerial level on Poush 7, 2078 BS. It has been confirmed that the 'Letter Grading Directive, 2078' will be enforced in this year's examination.
Following the implementation of the directive in the past, where students were required to score at least 35% in both theoretical and practical subjects, Paudel, the examination controller, clarified that students must now achieve a score of 35 in theoretical subjects and 40 in practical subjects to pass the examination.
According to Paudel, students scoring less than 35% will not be eligible for enrollment in class 11 and will have to retake the examination. He also stated that students failing to attain 35 marks can retake the examination in two subjects in the first year up to three times.
