In a significant event marking the 9th International Yoga Day, the esteemed Health and Population Minister, Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet, inaugurated the Kathmandu University Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital (KU-YNCH). The ceremony, organized by Kathmandu University, took place at Panauti Chaukot in the Kavrepalanchok district and witnessed the presence of dignitaries, local communities, and members of the university family.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, delivered a warm welcome speech, highlighting the collaboration between the Kathmandu University Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital, the School of Medical Sciences, and the School of Arts. Prof. Ananta Gopal Risal shed light on the Bachelor of Yogic Science and Wellbeing program, which is being conducted in association with KU-YNCH.
Mr. Ram Sharan Bhandari, the head of Panauti Municipality, expressed his thoughts on the initiative, emphasizing its significance. Dean of KU School of Arts, Ms. Ekku Maya Pun conveyed the vote of thanks during the program.
Notably, Kathmandu University has introduced a comprehensive four-year course in Yogic Science and Well-Being, which has already begun its academic journey. The program currently has 11 enrolled students, and admissions for the upcoming academic year are now open. The Kathmandu University Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital, approved by the Panauti Municipality, is equipped with 15 beds to ensure excellent patient care.
Furthermore, Kathmandu University is actively developing strategies to promote yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy on an international scale, with the aim of extending its influence beyond national borders.
This inauguration of the Kathmandu University Yoga and Nature Cure Hospital represents a significant step towards integrating traditional healing practices with modern medical education, fostering a holistic approach to health and well-being.
