The Higher Secondary Education Board (HSEB) could cancel the affiliation of any higher secondary schools at any time if they violated the code of it has issued.
Speaking at a programme organized to release the Code of Conduct here Wednesday, Hem Kumar Mishra, vice chairman of the board, urged all higher secondary schools to abide by the code of conduct.
"Otherwise, the HSEB could cancel your affiliation," he said.
The HSEB released the code of conduct six months after its approval from the Ministry of Education on 14thOctober last year.
Bhim Lal Gurung, member secretary of the HSEB, said that all stakeholders should support to implement the code of conduct prepared and introduced in their active involvement.
Umesh Shrestha, chairman of the Higher Secondary School Association Nepal, said the code of conduct would be implemented by all strictly.
Shrestha added that the authorities were compelled to introduce the code conduct due to unhealthy competition among the higher secondary schools and their mushrooming numbers.
The code of conduct does not allow the plus-two level students to wear tight paints and the skirts displaying their knees, use the mobile phone in school premises, ride motorcycle in school uniform, visit hotels, restaurants, film hall, park and shopping mall wearing school dress.
Likewise, the students could not sit in the board examination without having ninety percent attendance and the teachers could not resort to corporal punishment.
It urged schools to be conscious about the sexual abuse of the girl students. "If the schools’ owners abuse any girl student sexually, the HSEB could cancel their schools’ affiliation," read a provision of the code of conduct.
The higher secondary schools are permitted to charge fee as mentioned in the education regulation.
Schools within Kathmandu valley can spend up to Rs. 500,000, schools within sub metropolitan cities up to Rs. 300,000, schools within municipality up to Rs.150,000 and schools within village development committee up to Rs.50,000 for the advertisement.
Suprabhat Bhandari, chairman of Guardian Association Nepal urged the authorities to regularly monitor higher secondary schools to ensure effective implementation of the code of conduct.
