Gupteshwor Campus: Empowering Education for Daughters-in-law

Gupteshwor Mahadev Multiple Campus, situated in Chorepatan, an essential religious and tourist locale in Pokhara, has served as a pivotal educational institution for daughters-in-law since its inception. Established and sustained through the proceeds from the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave in Pokhara Metropolitan Ward No. 17 Chorepatan, the campus has facilitated educational opportunities for daughters-in-law in the region.

The Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave Management Committee initiated its operations from the second floor of the Yagyashala building, eventually relocating to a modern facility in 2045. Currently, the campus accommodates a total of 929 students, with 73 percent (698) being daughters-in-law, as per the information provided by campus head Dharmaraj Baral. The Faculty of Management and Education offers graduate-level classes in subjects such as BBS, BEd, BHM, BIM, and MBS. Students from various districts, including Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Tanahun, Lamjung, and Dang, are enrolled in the campus affiliated with Tribhuvan University. Baral asserts that the emphasis on quality education has heightened the campus's appeal among students.

The campus actively provides scholarships to meritorious and underprivileged students across different faculties. Shreeram Subedi, president of the campus management committee, explains that to ensure systematic operation, the committee invested over three million rupees to purchase the cave in the northern part of the tourist spot, Davisfall. The construction of a building on 5 ropani 6 annas of land, later extended to 6 ropani 3 annas, was subsequently undertaken.

With financial support from the University Grants Commission and the Gupteshwor Cave Management Committee, the construction of the third floor is underway. The building has been erected with a contribution of Rs 40 crore 1 million from the Indian Embassy.

In its commitment to the education sector, the campus has established seven renewable funds totaling Rs. 1 crore and 6 lakh for hardworking, economically disadvantaged, Dalit, and Janajati students across various faculties and levels. These funds include the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave Akshaya Kosh (Rs 1 crore), Khagraj Art Literature Uplifting Akshaya Kosh (Rs 101,000), Lilakumari Memorial Akshaya Kosh (Rs 100,000), Professor Dr. Bhupati Dhakal (Kamal) Ancestor's Memory (Rs 2,22,222), Indreni Savings and Credit Cooperative Society Akshaya Kosh (Rs 50,000), Lakshmi Paudel Hardworking and Poor Scholarship Akshaya Kosh (Rs 52,000), and Dharmakala Paudel Memorial Akshaya Kosh (Rs 51,151).
