Class 12 examinations across the nation kicked off peacefully today (Baisakh 14, 2081) at 8 AM, marking a coordinated effort to conduct the exams simultaneously in all regions. The National Examination Board (NEB), overseeing this massive logistical operation, has successfully initiated exams in 1,525 centers spread across the country's 77 districts states Dr. Mahashram Sharma.
The board had determined a total of 1,525 exam centers across the country and one in Japan outside the country. Exams have been conducted by sending question papers by e-mail to exam centers in Japan.
Dr. Mahashram Sharma, the chairperson of the NEB, informed about the smooth commencement of the exams. "The exams for class 12 have started peacefully across the country at the same time. We have received reports of students participating in the exams with enthusiasm," said Dr. Sharma.
This year, a staggering total of 390,847 students are taking part in the exams, comprising 196,914 female students and 193,933 male students. Furthermore, 100,650 students have registered to improve their grades. The exams see participation from students across 5,542 schools nationwide.
The capital, Kathmandu, houses the highest number of examination centers at 144, while remote districts like Manang and Mustang each have one center, highlighting the Board's commitment to making education accessible to all corners of the country.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the exams, the Board has deployed a formidable force of 34,171 personnel, including center chiefs, assistant center chiefs, inspectors, staff, and office assistants. Additionally, 18,300 police officers have been mobilized to maintain order and security during the examination period.
This year's question papers were distributed online, employing a 'time-based password' system to enhance the integrity and confidentiality of the examination process.
