Education Minister of the caretaker government, Ganga Lal Tuladhar, made public a blueprint for the education sector comprising 14 programmes at a press conference at the Ministry of Education.

A high-level meeting of the education minister and joint secretaries of the Education Ministry had decided to publicise blueprint designed to bring changes in the education sector.

The blueprint, among others, aims to make the schools a zone of peace and organise an all-party conference for educational improvement.

It also aims to build a network between between five regional education directorates and the Office of the Controller of Examinations to provide academic certificates in a hassles-free manner and implement the ‘Education Consultancy Service and Language Teaching related Directives-2011’.

Minister Tuladhar said, “I was determined to bring changes in the education sector. In a short tenure of six months, I managed to bring some changes, while on some fronts I could not do as expected.”

On the recommendation of Education Minister and Co-chancellor Tuladhar, Prime Minister and Chancellor of Nepal’s universities Jhala Nath Khanal had appointed seven intellectuals as Vice Chancellors of seven universities, including the Tribhuvan University, on August 8. Professors aligned to Nepali Congress and UCPN-Maoist have padlocked the universities against the appointments.
