Government Appoints Vice-Chancellors of Two Health Institutes

Prime Minister and Chancellor KP Sharma Oli appointed Dr. Mangal Rawal and Dr. Duk Bahadur Chhetri as the vice-chancellors of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) and Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences respectively.

The appointment was made as per the recommendation of a recommendation committee coordinated by Minister for Health and Population and Pro-Chancellor of the KAHS, Mr. Hridayesh Tripathi. 

The names of nine candidates were recommended for the vice-chancellors on Chaitra 12, 2077.  The recommendation committee formed under the chairmanship of Health and Population Minister Mr. Hridayesh Tripathi had shortlisted the candidates for the three institutes.

The position had remained vacant after the term of its vice-chancellor Prof Dr Rajendra Raj Wagle expired on 28 February 2020. After this, Dr. Rawal was designated as Acting Vice-Chancellor of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences. 

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Rawal is an Orthopedic Surgeon. Dr Rawal, a permanent resident of Humla district, was serving as the Director of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences hospital for one and a half years.
