Gorkha Municipality Takes Action Against Schools for Unapproved Textbooks

Gorkha Municipality has initiated legal proceedings against schools found to be using textbooks not sanctioned by the Curriculum Development Center (CDC). This action comes after reports surfaced of certain educational institutions within the municipal jurisdiction deviating from the approved curriculum.

Chandra Bahadur Khadka, the head of the Education Section at the Municipality, revealed that complaints had been received regarding the use of unauthorized teaching materials by some private schools. Consequently, the Municipality has launched preparations to closely monitor these schools to ensure compliance with educational regulations.

"We have issued strict directives to all schools to adhere strictly to the approved textbooks and materials," stated Khadka. "Preparations are underway to investigate and monitor schools accused of defying educational guidelines by using unapproved materials."

Highlighting the seriousness of the matter, Khadka emphasized that any violation of the educational regulations, including the use of unapproved textbooks, would not be tolerated. "We have made it clear that only approved textbooks will be permitted for use in schools," he asserted. "Any school found in breach of this regulation will face appropriate action following thorough investigation."

Furthermore, Khadka disclosed that the Municipality had taken proactive steps to caution the management of schools implicated in the complaints. "We have contacted the concerned schools to address the allegations of unauthorized textbook usage," he confirmed.

Additionally, Khadka informed the public about the establishment of a committee tasked with inspecting schools to ensure compliance with educational standards. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology of the Government of Nepal has urged all local authorities to enforce the use of approved textbooks, teaching materials, and instructional resources.

Under Section 35 of Chapter 7 of the Education Regulations (2059), schools are mandated to utilize only textbooks, supplementary teaching materials, and instructional resources sanctioned by the Curriculum Development Center.
