In a significant move for the higher education sector, the Far Western University College Association Nepal (FWUCAN) was officially formed during a national gathering of affiliated colleges of the Far Western University held on April 18, at Alcove Restaurant, Minbhawan, Kathmandu.
The newly formed body will act as a common platform for 32 affiliated campuses, aiming to strengthen coordination with the university and enhance academic quality, research, and student opportunities.
A 13-member executive committee has been formed under the leadership of Mr. Laxman Pokhrel, who was elected President. Similarly, Rajan Sapkota was elected Vice President, Bhuvan Chakra Joshi as General Secretary, Shankar Prasad Sharma as Secretary, and Ramkrishna Dangal as Treasurer.
FWUCAN now stands as a collective voice for these institutions, aiming to create stronger links with the university, promote academic excellence, expand research opportunities, and safeguard student interests.
According to Chairman Pokhrel, FWUCAN will coordinate positively with the university, government, and non-government agencies, ministries, departments, and other institutions to enhance the educational quality, career opportunities, research, and protection of rights and interests of the students enrolled in affiliated campuses.
Founded in 2010 in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur, Far Western University operates under full government ownership and has evolved into one of Nepal’s foremost educational hubs.
