Far Western University to Launch Masters Program In Agriculture

Far Western University is set to introduce a postgraduate program in Agricultural Science. The university's 12th Senate meeting in Shrawan 2081 approved the commencement of postgraduate-level classes.

The newly introduced program will focus on Industrial Agricultural Science. It will offer courses in horticulture, agricultural economics, soil science, forest resources, species education, crop protection, soil testing, and related subjects. The program is designed for students seeking advanced education in agriculture.

In Nepal, postgraduate studies in agriculture are primarily offered by Tribhuvan University, Agricultural and Forestry University, and Purbanchal University. Far Western University will join this list. In Far Western University this year, 10 students, including eight fresh students and two government agricultural officers, will get a quota to study Crop Science."

The university emphasizes the importance of modernizing agriculture through industrialization, commercialization, and vocational education to equip students with the skills needed to implement agricultural development programs effectively.

In alignment with national priorities, the Government of Nepal and partner institutions, including Agriculture and Forestry University and Tribhuvan University, support this initiative to produce skilled manpower in the agricultural sector.

Additionally, the program emphasizes industrial, commercial, and scientific approaches to agriculture. In the upcoming academic sessions, the university plans to include new subjects related to urbanization and land conservation, further expanding the scope of the study.
