Four Institutions Granted Approval to Start MBBS Classes from This Academic Session

Three health science academies have received approval to commence MBBS classes starting from this academic session. The Medical Education Commission has allocated 50 seats each for MBBS programs at the Madhesh Institute of Health Sciences (MIHS), Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences (PoAHS), and Rapti  Academy of Health Sciences (RAHS), allowing these institutions to initiate their MBBS courses.

The Medical Education Commission has allocated the quota and has stated that MBBS programs may start on RAHS and PoAHS, if Ministry of Finance released necessary budget for the program. Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel shared the news through social media, confirming that MBBS programs will soon begin at both Pokhara and Rapti Health Science Academies.

The government aims to produce skilled medical professionals and provide healthcare services through health science academies. As part of this initiative, MBBS programs will be gradually introduced in hospitals with more than 300 beds.

Additionally, the commission has allocated 50 seats for B & C Medical College, owned by businessman Durga Prasai, allowing it to admit MBBS students. Last Thursday (Bhadra 20), the commission determined a total of 2,140 seats for 25 hospitals, medical colleges, and health science academies.

Out of the 50 seats allocated to each health science academy, 75% of the students will be able to pursue their MBBS degrees under full scholarships.
