Far-Western University Introduces New BSc Forestry Program to Address Nepal's Forestry Sector Demands

In a move aimed at addressing the evolving demands of Nepal's forestry sector, Far-Western University has unveiled a pioneering academic initiative. The university, based in Mahendranagar, has launched a new program: Bachelor of Science in Forestry (Bsc Forestry) in the academic year 2080 with admissions starting the same year.

The program seeks to cater to both current and future requirements within Nepal's forestry industry. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the intricacies of the forestry sector, ensuring sustainable development in the country.

Kailali Multiple Campus, an integral constituent of Far-Western University situated in Dhangadhi, Kailali district, will host the newly introduced Bsc Forestry program. Over the span of four years and eight semesters, students will be immersed in a comprehensive curriculum designed to cultivate proficient and capable forestry graduates.

This innovative program encompasses a diverse array of subjects within the realm of forestry, encompassing topics such as silviculture, forest ecology, forest management, forest economics, forest policy and governance, forest products and utilization, forest engineering, wildlife management, watershed management, community forestry, agroforestry, climate change and adaptation, forest biotechnology, forest inventory and mensuration, forest research and extension, as well as forest statistics.

Beyond theoretical instruction, the Bsc Forestry program places a strong emphasis on practical experience. Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning through field visits, internships, project work, and research initiatives. By fostering this practical dimension, the program aims to produce graduates who can seamlessly translate their acquired knowledge into real-world scenarios.

Eligibility

The minimum qualification for entry to BSc Forestry at Far Western University is Intermediate (12 years of school education) in Science (with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and/or Mathematics) or Diploma inForestry stream with at least 50% or C+ grade.
