Faculties of Nepal Open University Without a Dean Since Last Year

Nepal Open University has been without a dean in several of its faculties for the past twelve months. Since Bhadra 2078, no one has been appointed the dean of the individual faculties. It has been eleven months since the university's faculty of sociology, education, management, and law faculty had a dean. Similar circumstances exist at the Nepal Open University's Faculty of Science, Health, and Technology, which has been without a dean since Poush, 2078.

Although the absence of office bearers has long hampered the university's academic programs, there is an increasing risk that the executive council's inability to appoint a dean will negatively impact the students' academic year.

University thematic committees are likewise inactive after their terms. The executive council selects a dean under the Nepal Open University Act, 2073. The executive council, which consists of the vice-chancellor, registrar, a woman elected by the assembly, a teacher, and a dean nominated by the vice-chancellor, has been without a university representative for a considerable amount of time.

The habit of appointing officials based on party affiliation is still common in other universities, and the students have complained that this is disrupting the academic and administrative activities of the institution. The institution stated that there hadn't been an academic council for the past six months.
