The Gaumul Rural Municipality in Bajura has made the decision to annually support a deserving student in their pursuit of medical education, particularly MBBS. Rural Municipality Chairman Hari Bahadur Rokaya declared their commitment to providing education to a deserving student each year, despite financial limitations, as they strive to fulfill their dream of becoming a medical doctor through personal investment.
Chairman Rokaya clarified that, in addition to the yearly selection, if a child from an economically disadvantaged family within the municipality displays the potential for excellence in MBBS, they will sponsor an extra student. The program's objective is not only to offer medical education but also to develop skilled human resources within the municipality by leveraging local assets.
This time, the Rural Municipality is providing support to Daman Dhami from Ward No. 3 to pursue MBBS. Municipal Administrative Officer Jagadish Bhatta informed that, following the completion of primary education with local funding, the municipality will financially assist the chosen students in studying MBBS and contributing to the community as medical professionals.
To facilitate MBBS education, the municipality has allocated a budget of approximately 4 million Nepalese rupees. The inaugural year's budget for this initiative is established at 1.5 million rupees. The selected students will receive financial aid throughout the six-year MBBS course.
If a student qualifies for the entrance examination but encounters financial challenges, the municipality will mobilize financial support to ensure they do not miss out on their education. The decision to support MBBS studies has significantly eased the burden for students, considering the financial hurdles they may face while pursuing medical education.
