The Duduwa Rural Municipality has taken significant strides towards enhancing education by introducing a new education policy aimed at bringing local communities into the national education mainstream.

Facing educational disparities, particularly among the Madhesi communities, the Duduwa region has witnessed a positive response to the implementation of the new education policy. Last year, the Municipality unveiled this policy, translating its vision into actionable plans.

According to recent census data, approximately 9000 households within the Municipality are illiterate. Utilizing this information, the Rural Municipality has launched a comprehensive campaign to boost literacy rates, alongside various improvement initiatives.

Chairman Narendra Kumar Chaudhary highlighted the primary objectives of the education policy, including scholarships for girls, school grants, free textbook distributions, and sanitary pad provisions. He emphasized that the policy aims to ensure literacy for all residents of the Municipality.

Chairman Chaudhary underlined the importance of collaborative efforts with representatives from all political factions at the Municipality level to effectively implement the policy. "We have devised several strategies within the new education policy to incentivize student attendance," he stated.

Furthermore, the policy encompasses initiatives to empower illiterate individuals within the Municipality, including programs to encourage successful students in national examinations and eradicate illiteracy through various educational channels.

Sanjay Kumar Karn, the Education Section Chief of the Municipality, outlined plans to establish at least one secondary school in every ward, leveraging local expertise and resources for effective service delivery.

The Municipality's efforts have resulted in notable improvements in educational infrastructure, with 16 Community Schools, 15 Madrasas, 1 Community Learning Center, 1 Gurukul, 9 Institutional Schools, and 72 Early Childhood Development Centers now operational within its jurisdiction.

The implementation of this new education policy reflects the Municipality's commitment to promoting literacy, ensuring quality education, and fostering socio-economic development within the Duduwa region.
