In  a press release published by CIAA on 28 October, CIAA told that it is serious about the complaint filed at the commission in regards to the radical increment of Admission and School fees by Private Schools in Nepal and that the concerned authorities have remained silent.

CIAA further states that, "According to the Education Act 2028, Sec 16(d), it's Sub Sec 5, 6, 7 and its Regulation 2059, Rule 150 (a) clearly incorporates that the school fees will be prescribed and updated by the Education department in a timely manner which is obligatory to all the schools. To charge fees above the prescribed rate is strictly prohibited as per the law.

CIAA has thus written to Secretary of Ministry of Education (MoE) to develop effective mechanism to address the issues of radical raise of the fees by private schools as well as to make them act in accordance to the prescribed law.

It has also written to the Secretary of MoE for developing an effective implementation and monitoring mechanism whereby the schools mandatorily publish, rates of the approved initial admission fee, class fees and other related fees in a PUBLIC NOTICE BOARD easily accessible in the school premises by the students/guardians/public.

The concerned people should be properly informed, as a part of Right to Information as integrated in the Interim Constitution of Nepal.
