Chitwan Medical College has broken the belief that one has to go to the Kathmandu valley for the treatment of heart diseases. The college got to this position after it successfully started treating complex heart-related problems.

The medical college has claimed to be second only to the Shahid Ganga Lal National Heart Center in Kathmandu in terms of the number of heart patients treated. According to the hospital's statistics, 60 to 80 patients come to the college daily for heart treatment.

According to Pratap Devkota, Chief Executive Director of the hospital, 1,852 coronary angiograms, 1,032 coronary angioplasties, 153 pacemakers, 160 PTMCs, and 139 temporary pacemakers have been performed in the college so far. Devkota informed that the hospital has been providing these services for the last seven years.

The hospital is also treating with the help of ECG, Echo, ABPM, Halter, and other equipment. Chairman and Managing Director of the hospital Prof Dr. Harish Chandra Neupane claimed that they have treated most patients for heart disease after Ganga Lal. He says that his college has become a major destination for the heart treatment of patients across the country, including the capital Kathmandu, for the past seven years. "We will resume cardiac surgery in a few months," Neupane said.

The college has a separate 20-bed heart intensive care unit and another 20-bed general ward for heart patients. Neupane said that the treatment of heart disease would be costly and the patients would benefit if the government could help. When the college did not start service here, many patients died due to lack of treatment.
