Certified College of Accountancy (CCA) Inter-College Essay Competition 2023 has come to a close with a successful outcome. The competition was held over two rounds with 18 participants, of which 10 were shortlisted from the preliminary round.
The preliminary round required students to write a 1000-word essay on the topic of "What is more important: Higher Education or Skill Acquisition?" The essays were judged on factors such as plagiarism check, grammatical accuracy, focus on the topic, supporting materials, and essay structure. The top 10 participants came from Nepal Mega College, Orient College, New Vision Academy, Himalayan WhiteHouse International College, People's Campus, Manaslu World College, and St. Xavier's College.
The final round of the competition took place at CCA, where students were given an hour to write an 800-word essay on "The role of Youth in shaping the future of Nepal and the need for their engagement in decision-making processes." This format tested the students' quick thinking and judgment skills. The chief guest of the program was Mr. Rabin Katwal, ACCA Nepal Head, and the judge was Mr. Raj Kumar Gurung.
The winner of the competition was Sandesh Bashyal from Nepal Mega College, followed by Shishir Gautam from St. Xavier College as the first runner-up and Farheen Banu from Manaslu World College as the second runner-up. The winners were awarded with cash prizes, certificates, trophies, CCA discount cards worth Rs. 25,000, and ACCA gift boxes. The other participants were also given participation certificates and CCA discount cards. All college representatives were also given tokens of appreciation.
The competition was organized by CCA and supported by ACCA Nepal, with the purpose of promoting curiosity and research-oriented thinking among students. Manish Sharma, executive director of CCA, stated that "this essay competition will help promote curiosity in young minds and make them research oriented."
CCA has been providing the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) course for over 16 years and is one of the gold-approved learning partners in Nepal. Throughout the year, CCA conducts various extra-curricular events and competitions, providing students with a short and fruitful break from their daily study routine.
