Boost your memory with some easy to implement tips

Though, it’s a universal fact that repeated reading increases the memory. Through different researches Scientists now claim that, Reading and memorizing are two different aspects.  They found that only repeated reading does not guarantee it will be retained in the brain for a long time. They concluded that, Brain has a unique system to remember the things, and people who use these systems knowingly or unknowingly retain the things for a long period of time.


We all know that only reading does not pay off, we have to remember what we read. This is the reason why some people got good marks even reading for few hours, compared to others who spend lots of hours in reading. You may think that these people are smart, or they may have god gifted quick learning ability. But it’s only partially true, as they might be using these techniques knowingly or unknowingly. If you are spending good time in reading but couldn’t remember the things, this article will surely help you. Read the following tips and implement them while reading.  

1.  Start early- don’t leave it until just a couple of weeks before the exam

2.  Pay attention in class.

3.  Plan your revision time, do a little each day

4.  Break revision up into small chunks, take regular short breaks.

5.  Make notes from textbook and class work.

6.  Summarize/ condense notes repeatedly. Use highlighter pens.

7.  Make revision cards/ flash cards (not too much information on each card.)

8.  Test yourself or get a friend to test you. Buddy up with a student of similar ability as you.

9.  Depending upon what suits you, make mind maps, mnemonics, songs, diagrams of topics, make a poster for your wall, rhymes, similes etc.

10.  Do past paper questions and recheck topics you can’t answer.

11.  Consider buying a revision guide.

12.  Look after yourself- get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, don’t get drunk before exams (it wrecks your memory.)

13.  Take some exercise/ fresh air, eat properly.

14.  Use course summary if available or summaries in text book to check you have not missed anything out.

15.  Read specifications/ syallabus

16.  Post-it notes- write a formula on each one, put them around your room, on the fridge etc.

17.  Teach other people physics- you will be surprised how much you learn.

18.  Make a tape- listen to it whilst going to sleep.

19.  Learn definitions and formulae off- by-heart.

20.  Talk with teachers, utilize extra revision classes, workshops etc.

21.  Go over what was taught in the lesson the same night to have a sure understanding.

22.  When a mock exam is returned, make a note on what was bad and revise those topics.

23.  Revise repeatedly over a long period, not all in the last week.

24.  Stay calm before and in exams- it this is an issue get help.

25.  Just because you have missed a lesson, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t revise that topic! Never have to hope a topic won’t come up- it will!

26.  Stay organized- make sure you don’t waste time looking for notes or books.
