The Ambassador of Israel to Nepal, His Excellency Yaron Mayer, visited the University on February 5, 2015. During the visit, the Ambassador held discussions with Prof. Dr. Ram Kantha Makaju Shrestha, the Vice Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, the Registrar, along with other KU officials about the possible areas of cooperation between the academic institutions of the two countries.
Ms. Sara Atzmon, the holocaust survivor, along with her husband accompanied the ambassador and shared her experiences during the deadly holocaust. The Holocaust (“Sacrifice by fire” in Greek), was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of 6 million Jews by the Nazi (National Socialist Party) regime and its collaborators.
The programme was followed by the presentation of a video of the holocaust and interaction by the students of KU and Kathmandu University High School (KUHS) with Ms. Sara about her life experience.
