Sainya Post: Nepal Army

The Nepal Army's Recruitment Selection Directorate, under the Operations Department, announces vacancies for the Sainya position (सैन्य पद).

The selection process for the Sainya post (military position) involves:

  1. A pre-selection stage consists of a bearing test, pre-medical examination, and physical fitness test.
  2. A detailed medical examination.
  3. A written exam (worth 100 marks, requiring applicants to score at least 40 marks to pass.)
  4. An interview.

The exam to select Sainya post features questions in English, Mathematics, Nepali, and General Knowledge and lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes. It can be taken in Nepali, English, or both languages. Only the candidates who pass the initial written examination will advance to the subsequent stages of the selection process.

The written examination is divided into four sections: English (20 marks), Mathematics (25 marks), Nepali (30 marks), and General Knowledge (25 marks). The General Knowledge section consists of 25 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each worth one mark. The other subjects include a mix of subjective questions and MCQs.

Salary, Allowances, Rations and Other Facilities:

Women in the Nepali Army:

Women are recruited into units related to combat support or services that provide indirect assistance to frontline troops during combat (e.g., medical, engineering, logistics). They are not recruited into units involving direct combat duties or close combat roles (fighting in the frontline during the war).

Eligibility

Education Qualification

(a) Applicants must have passed Grade 8. Those who have passed Grade 9 or Grade 10 can also submit proof of academic qualification, but the minimum GPA for the Grade 8 certificate must be 2, with no grade lower than D+ in any subject.

(b) For those who have passed SLC/SEE or an equivalent examination, a recognized institution's certificate of academic qualification must have a minimum GPA of 2, with no grade lower than D+ in any subject.

(c) According to the letter of instructions issued in 2078 by the Curriculum Development Center, candidates must provide a certificate of academic qualification for the grade passed. In the case of SEE or an equivalent exam, a minimum GPA of 2 must be obtained, and for those who have passed Grade 11, the certificate of academic qualification for Grade 12 must be provided. The certificates must include the highest academic qualification, such as SLC/SEE or higher.

If the applicant is using glass, the eye power should not be weaker than +2 to -2. 

Age Limit

Applicants must be at least 18 years old but not older than 22 years. Current Nepal Army staff members applying for the position must be no older than 26 years. 

Marital Status

Only unmarried candidates are eligible to apply for military (sainya) and follower (various trades) positions in the Nepal Army. This rule does not apply to currently serving military personnel.

Other qualifications:

Applicants must be deemed physically fit and meet the health standards required for military service. They must not be members of any political party, not be involved in any criminal activities or have a criminal record, and not be members of any organization deemed illegal by the government. 

Applicants must have good moral character and integrity, and must not have been dismissed from any government service or position on disciplinary grounds. Further details about other qualifications are specified in the "Military Service Regulations, 2069" and "Military Service Rules, 207"1.

(c) While filling out the online application form, candidates can only access subsequent sections after the initial screening based on age, education qualification, and citizenship. Suppose a candidate meets the minimum eligibility criteria. In that case, they can fill the remaining sections with their details, family details, and educational qualifications in Nepali Unicode Kalimati font. After verification, candidates can download and save the application form (including more information) and admit card in PDF format for printing.
