Police Jawan (नेपाल प्रहरी जवान), a non-gazetted Class IV role within the District Police group (जनपद प्रहरी).
A police officer appointed to a position of Police Jawan filled through open competition shall be on probation for one year.
A police officer shall be entitled to salary, allowances, and rations from the date of appointment or promotion. Currently, the salary of police inspector is: Rs. 28,728.

Police uniforms are distributed to all newly recruited officers and jawans of all training centers according to the scale provided by the training center. The Inspector General of Police, with the Ministry's approval, will determine the color, type, and other details of the police uniform.
The selection process of Jawan is divided into four stages: Preliminary Medical Examination and Physical Fitness Test, Detailed Medical Examination, Written Exam, and Interview.

The first stage comprises a Preliminary Medical Examination conducted according to Schedule-6 of the "General Principles to be Followed While Appointing and Promoting to Nepal Police Service Posts, 2069," followed by a Physical Fitness Test (Appendix A).
This test includes a 300-meter run, long jump, high jump, sit-ups, push-ups, chin-ups, and a 3.2 km (2-mile) run. Candidates must pass each event to proceed to the next.
