Pokhara University's PhD in Management program is an advanced research-focused degree that aims to give students a solid foundation in advanced theory, research, and analytical skills so they can conduct high-quality independent research in their fields and contribute to management literature, education, and practice. Students get an in-depth understanding of the literature and theory in their primary area of focus during the program. They also strengthen the capacity necessary for publishing in prestigious academic publications while developing the conceptual underpinnings and practical abilities of advanced research methodologies. It is a demanding curriculum with pertinent coursework, research, and intellectual interaction that equips graduates with the skills to recognize critical challenges affecting business and society, formulate solutions to difficulties, and carry out original research. Students must pass a thorough exam after completing their curriculum, review and synthesize any pertinent literature, formulate a research proposal, and finally finish a thesis that proves their research ability. The curriculum prepares competent students for rewarding careers in academic research and teaching as well as for accountable roles in businesses and institutions that shape public policy.

The objective of the program

The primary objective of this program is to:

  • Equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and carry out original and high-quality research on significant issues in the specialized field of management and contribute to the advancement of knowledge.
  • Develop highly competent academics and researchers who can contribute to knowledge creation and problem-solving in the area of business and management both in Nepalese and global context.

Eligibility

A Master’s degree in management or economics from a recognized university with the following achievements

  • 2 (two) years of working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.00/4.00 CGPA or high Second Division (55%);
  • 1 (one) year of working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.30/4.00 CGPA or First Division;
  • There will be no requirement of working experience for those who have passed Master Level with 3.75/4.00 CGPA or Distinction Division.
