Southwestern School of Management and Technology (SWSMT), located in Basundhara, Kathmandu, is a premier institution specializing in hospitality, hotel management, and business education in Nepal. SWSMT offers a plus two program in Hotel Management (HM) in affiliation with the National Examinations Board. It offers BHM and BBA programs at the undergraduate level and an MBA at the postgraduate level.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT LABS 

SWSMT features three well-designed, fully-equipped, spacious Hotel Management Labs blending the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required in the modern hospitality industry. The Main Kitchen Lab allows students to develop essential culinary skills in a professional kitchen setting. The Hotel Software Lab familiarizes learners with industry-standard hotel management systems, enhancing their technical proficiency in front office operations. The Bakery, Barista, and Housekeeping Labs in the Hotel Management Department offer hands-on training in bakery production, beverage preparation, and room service management.


HOSPITALITY EVENTS 

As a leading institution in hospitality education, SWSMT emphasizes experiential learning through various hospitality events. SWSMT regularly organizes Food Festivals where students showcase their culinary creativity, menu planning, and event management abilities. It arranges  Hotel Visits to distinguished hotels and resorts in the hospitality sector. These visits allow students to observe professional standards, back-end processes, and guest service techniques. SWSMT also encourages entrepreneurial spirit among the students through various Hospitality Entrepreneurship programs.  

ACADEMIC CURRICULUM 

The comprehensive curriculum offered at SWSMT is designed to meet international academic standards, covering a broad range of subjects relevant to the fields of Hospitality and Hotel Management. Hotel Management program at SWSMT provides extra basic courses including Culinary Arts, Bakery and Pastry fundamentals, Hotel Software Training, and Digital Skills for Hospitality. 

INTERNSHIPS AND PLACEMENTS 

SWSMT places strong emphasis on HM internships and job placements as an essential part of its hospitality education. For +2 in Hotel Management (HM), internships are an integral component of the learning process. These HM training opportunities offer real-world experience in premier 4-5-star hotels. Before placements, students are carefully guided and prepared by the School’s expert faculty to ensure they perform confidently and competently during their internships.
For BHM program, SWSMT provides extensive national and international HM internship opportunities. The HM internship applications of SWSMT students are accepted by the top-notch hotels in the Middle East (Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar) as well as Malaysia, the Maldives, India, Thailand, China, the USA, Japan, etc. 

GUEST LECTURES, SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

Through guest lectures, seminars, and Hotel Software training from industry professionals, hospitality enterprises, and professional associations, students at SWSMT gain practical insights, trends, and experiences to meet global market demands. These interactive sessions focus on developing students’ practical skills, problem-solving abilities, and industry-specific competencies, empowering them to meet professional challenges with confidence.

OUTDOOR PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES

SWSMT organizes a variety of outdoor programs and recreational activities for the holistic development of the students. LIBRARY 

SWSMT provides a conveniently accessible on-campus library that goes beyond physical books and newspapers. The library also offers subscriptions to electronic databases, granting users the ability to access a wide range of online resources, including full-text articles and e-books. These electronic resources are available to current students, faculty, and staff, ensuring their access to valuable information.

COMPUTER LAB 

SWSMT is equipped with computer stations, ensuring students have access to adequate computing resources. Hospitality and management students who are conducting research and working on class assignments are prioritized to access the computers and resources. 

SPORTS 

SWSMT organizes a diverse range of sporting events to cater to the interests of its students. Students have the opportunity to participate in various sports, including football, basketball, tennis, badminton, and chess competitions. These sporting events not only promote physical fitness but also foster a sense of teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competition among the students. SWSMT recognizes the importance of a well-rounded education that encompasses both academic and extracurricular activities, and the inclusion of sporting events adds an element of fun and recreational engagement to the student experience.

BUSINESS EVENTS 

SWSMT hosts various business events, including a Business Plan Competition, Creative Writing competitions, Mock Interview Sessions, and Product Dumb Charades. These events provide students with valuable opportunities to showcase their entrepreneurial skills, creativity, interview abilities, and teamwork.

SOCIAL EVENTS 

SWSMT organizes a variety of social events to promote engagement and community involvement. These events include public speaking sessions, walkathons, blood donation programs, and waste material management initiatives. Through these activities, students have the chance to enhance their public speaking skills, contribute to worthy causes, and actively participate in environmental sustainability efforts. SWSMT recognizes the importance of fostering social responsibility and providing platforms for students to make a positive impact on society.


Admission Guidelines

Plus Two In Hotel Management 

Students who have completed a Secondary Education Examination (SEE), or equivalent are eligible to enroll in this program.

BHM 

Eligibility: A minimum of CGPA "C" with not less than D+ in individual subjects in +2 or equivalent exams

BBA 

Eligibility: 10+2 or Equivalent (all streams)

MBA 

Eligibility: To apply to the MBA program at Southwestern School of Management and Technology, students must have 45% or 2 CGPA and 15 years of formal education, including three years of a bachelor's degree in any field.

Only 33 students are chosen and admitted to SWSMT's MBA program. Performance on the written test, group discussion, individual presentation, and personal interview will all play a part in your final selection and admission. The following subjects must be covered on the college's MBA admission test for applicants to be admitted:
