Admission Guidelines

The candidate applying for admissions to the MA in Gender Studies program must have successfully completed the Bachelor Level of study in any discipline or any equivalent course from any board or university recognized by Tribhuvan University.

Masters in Gender Studies was introduced in July 2009 upgraded from the previously existing Post Graduate Diploma in Women’s Studies that was running as a one-year degree program since September 1996. It is administered by Tribhuvan University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Gender Studies explores how gender interacts with other social, political, cultural, and economic identity markers to answer pressing concerns in politics, society, and economics. Gender Studies arose in response to the unanswered, incomplete solutions to social problems proposed by many disciplines. The program is highly interdisciplinary because it incorporates gender-related themes and questions from a variety of areas.
