International Center for Academics

ICA was established in 1997 and has been providing educational services to the nation since then. In 2002, it became the first Partner Institution (PI) of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in Nepal. The study center is approved by the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal. It is also the only educational institution from Nepal to become the member of Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) It has been providing internationally acclaimed degrees through the Distance Mode of education.

ICA presently offers 41 programs in Management, Humanities & Social Science, Tourism, Computer Science, Journalism and Mass Communication, Education, Rural Development and Health Science. Currently, the cumulative student strength of ICA is more than 1200. The learners enrolled in ICA are freshers or professionals from diverse fields such as Hospitality industry, Financial Institutions, Telecommunication, Corporate Houses, Embassies and Diplomatic agencies etc. ICA has signed an agreement with World Health Organization, Nepal to provide scholarship to the students enrolled in Certificate in Health Care Waste Management Program.

ICA offers a unique opportunity to study and work simultaneously. More than 600 learners have successfully completed their graduation, under-graduation, post graduation, diploma and certificate level programs. Due to the dedication of the faculty members, members of the staff and the hard work of the learners, the success rate of the students is always very high. ICA is also proud of its Six University Gold Medalists in the faculty of Management, Tourism Studies, Computer Science and Health Education, Sociology, Rural Development.

Admission guidelines

Admission process will be throughout the year as per academic cycle defined by the University.

Basic Eligibility for Admission depends on the course you are applying to:

The candidate must be 18 years and above fulfilling the additional criteria for each course.

Academic Session

January Cycle- From January to June

July Cycle -    From July to December

Mode of payment

The fees for the full semester/year course fee should be paid at the time of admission. The fee includes study materials and face to face counselling.


Examinations are conducted by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) through ICA at two examination centers i.e. Kathmandu & Dharan under the supervision of the Embassy of India, Kathmandu.

Exam Weightage System

All courses evaluation system are based on two components: Examination evaluation and attendance

70% – Term- End Examinations

Attendance requirement

Non-practical oriented courses: Counseling is not mandatory but it is strongly recommended to attend the counseling sessions for better understanding of the subject. Practical oriented courses: 75% attendance is required for practical sessions.

Transfer Facility

Transfer facility to IGNOU study centers worldwide Candidates once enrolled in IGNOU can get transferred to any study centers / Partner Institutes (PIs) worldwide provided the course/program is in offer.

Examination Facility

Candidates can appear for TERM END EXAM from any Partner Institution/ Study Center worldwide, they can also appear exams through India Embassy / Indian Consulate in the countries where there is no Partner Institution / study cente
