ABOUT

GATE - Global Academy of Tourism and Hospitality Education is an award-winning, forward-thinking academy that has become an integral part of the world’s most dynamic and largest industry: Tourism & Hospitality. GATE is also the first academy in Nepal to win an international award at the World Hospitality Awards, “Most Innovative Training Program 2011”, and “Best Professional Success 2015”. Having won the National Awards for “Food Safety” awarded by the Government of Nepal, the academy has an abundance of educational wealth to offer.

GATE was started in May 2007. The college is located in Mandikhatar, Kathmandu, and has since been a pioneer in exploring, developing, providing, and enhancing Hospitality & Tourism Education in Nepal. Since its humble beginnings, GATE has been serving society and the people by giving various academic, skill-based, vocational (short/long) courses as well in coordination with CTEVT Nepal & the Australian Government recognized course: SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery delivered in partnership with TAFE NSW (RTO 90003). GATE is considered by many to now be Nepal’s leading Hospitality College.

And recently, GATE became a certified member of the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, commonly referred to as EHL, which consistently is ranked as the best hospitality management school in the world. It has campuses in Switzerland and Singapore and 10 certified members around the globe. For over 128 years, EHL has pioneered Swiss hospitality education methods and set the standards of excellence in this field. Today, we combine the Swiss values of academic rigor and industry practice with creativity and innovation for modern hospitality management degrees that prepare graduates to lead the future of the industry and the world.

Asian students especially can now earn, with lower fees and expenses, the most respected EHL accredited degree here in Nepal: Bachelor in International Hospitality Management and have the mobility among the EHL campuses and in the certified member schools.

Bachelor in International Hospitality Management is internationally recognized and has been mapped to Bachelor Degree of Tribhuwan University. This program offers 100% credit transfer to any member of Swiss Schools and a wide range of other universities worldwide at any given semester for those who meet the requirements (Intake: January/February or August/September).

Admission Guidelines

For Bachelor Level

Step 1Counseling: Visit our campus and meet our admission counselor.

Any eligible candidate for GATE must submit an application in the prescribed form for the Entrance Test. The applicant must enclose the application form along with the copies of:

Certified testimonial of all examinations passed
Equivalency, Transfer, and Character Certificates
Two recent passport-sized photographs
Financial certificate

Step 2

Entrance Test
Personal Interview
Group Analysis
Result and Conditional offer letter.
Admission Confirmation by the Candidate.
Bust-up classes or short-term course*
Class commencement

Note: CMAT Score is also accepted.

For Diploma Level Programs

Students should have completed the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) or its equivalent,
Students should have basic knowledge of the English Language, both oral and written,
Students should have good health and mentally motivated in the industry.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

GATE is committed to providing scholarships and financial assistance on tuition fees for Nepali citizens, including other criteria, who are in need so that full academic potential and a plan for a successful career can be achieved.

There are two types of scholarships available at GATE: need-based and merit-based.

Need-basis scholarships are offered to those who are:

financially needy,
marginalized,
lower caste,
differently-abled.

Merit-based scholarships are offered based on:

G.P.A. in NEB,
College entrance examination,
Academic and extracurricular merits,
Athletics: students who excel in sports, with required sports certification,
Evidence of applicants' personal and character traits that foster cooperation, community, and compassion.
