The Central Department of History, Tribhuvan University is responsible for teaching the local as well as global history and conducting research in the same sector of study.

The Department incorporates ancient history, medieval history, modern history, ethnic history, military history, legal history, socio-economic history, diplomatic history including history of international relations.
