Bachelor of Social Work is four years academic program that aims to prepare and train social work practitioners that promote social change and problem-solving from micro, mezzo, and macro levels. 

Being a multidisciplinary subject, social work students will be equipped with the theoretical knowledge and skills to fight against discrimination such as poverty, discrimination, mental, health, disability, addiction, and many more. 

After the completion of the course, the graduate will be able to gain interpersonal and communication skills. Social work course is easy to enroll as it is an accessible and affordable degree offered in Nepal.

The BSW program was introduced in Nepal by Kathmandu University. Now, various colleges offer Bachelor in Social Work in affiliation with Tribhuvan University, Purbanchal University, and Kathmandu University. 

Eligibility

Students seeking admission in Bachelor in Social Work (BSW) must have secured at least D+ in all subjects in 10+2 or equivalent examination.

Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) - Tribhuvan University

Bachelor of Arts in Social Work is a four-year academic program under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Tribhuvan University. The major aim of this program is to produce generalist social workers to fulfill the need of contemporary Nepal as well as the world. To achieve this goal, it offers altogether 8 papers including compulsory fieldwork, research work, academic writing, and report writing courses in different semesters. 

Presently, more than 60 colleges in Nepal offer BSW/BASW program in Nepal under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University.

Bachelor in Arts-Social Work- Kathmandu University

Bachelor in Arts - Social Work (BSW) program of Kathmandu University is a four year degree.  

The curriculum of Social Work has been designed in such a way that the students are provided the broader area of knowledge related to human nature and society provided that courses regarding administration are not ignored. 

Currently, St. Xavier's College is the only college that offers Bachelor of Social Work Course with the affiliation to Kathmandu University. 

St. Xavier's College

St. Xavier's College, located at Maitighar, Kathmandu is an educational institution of higher learning established in 1988 A.D. Since its very inception the College has been offering quality education and has contributed to the development of the nation through the production of highly qualified human resources.

St. Xavier's College, Kathmandu is managed by the Nepal Jesuit Society. Jesuits began their educational work in Nepal in 1951 with the opening of St. Xavier's School, the Godavari, followed by St. Xavier's School, Jawalakhel and St. Xavier's School, Deonia. Other schools run by Nepal Jesuit Society are Moran Memorial School, Maheshpur and St.Xavier's, Sadakbari.

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)- Purbanchal University

Bachelor of Social work (BSW) course of Purbanchal University is four years, an 8-semester program. The course further opens up the range of experiential, personal, and professional learning spaces through three social camps called social work labs to observe, learn, relate and act appropriately as social workers in different contexts of society, communities, and countries. 

At present, two colleges offer Bachelor of Social work (BSW) with affiliation from Purbanchal University.

Kadambari Memorial College

In Nepal, the history of social work education in University degree has started in 1996 with the BSW program offered by Kathmandu University. KMCSM has become the second college of social work in Nepal and the first college of Purbanchal University to offer a Bachelor of Social Work program.

Janata Adarsha Multiple Campus

Janata Adarsha Multiple Campus is offering Bachelor in Social Work (BSW), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), Master of Science in Population, and Rural Development. It conducts wide area-covered research programs and training as per its available funds.
