Kathmandu University School of Arts Announces Short Course on Academic Writing

The Department of Languages and Mass Communication at Kathmandu University School of Arts is pleased to announce a Short Course on Academic Writing. The course is designed to enhance participants' academic writing skills through a hands-on, practice-oriented approach where participants will engage in practical exercises, receive constructive feedback, and collaborate with peers to refine their writing abilities in multiple academic settings. The course structure emphasizes continuous improvement, with expert guidance from both in-house faculty members and invited national/international resource persons.

This intensive 3-credit course spans three months of interactive sessions and independent work (includes 4-5 hours per day bi-monthly meetings with intensive first week programs starting May 19, 2024, along with 18 hours of independent work).

Pre-requirements for Participants: This course is designed for practicing scholars with exposure to research articles and academic writing concepts. Applicants should hold a Master's degree in any discipline.

Course Objectives:

  • Understand fundamental principles of academic writing styles, standards, citations, and referencing.
  • Critically evaluate published research articles and apply insights to enhance personal academic writing. Participate in collaborative learning environments for peer review and constructive feedback.
  • Improve academic writing proficiency through practical application.
