Application open for admission in PhD in Management at Kathmandu University for 2024 Batch

Kathmandu University School of Management (KUSOM) invites applications for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management program for 2024 batch.

KUSOM’s Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management is an advanced research degree program that offers candidates with a substantial grounding in high-quality research and analytical skills in management disciplines while preparing for higher academic or analytical professions in management and policymaking.

Enrolment and Registration

a. Enrolment for the PhD Program shall be on biannual basis either for the Fall semester (August) or the Spring semester (February).

b. The selected candidates will be registered in the PhD Program as full time research students after fulfilling all other registration requirements of the University.

c.  Registration of candidates initially will be temporary. Only after successful completion of study and defense of the thesis proposal by a candidate, he/ she will be permanently registered by the Research Committee on the recommendation of the main advisor.  

d. Admitted candidate may be asked to study courses offered in MPhil in Management Program if the Research Committee finds that the candidate’s knowledge in research and management related  courses is not sufficient. Candidates admitted with two masters’  degrees are required to do research related courses from MPhil  program as per the recommendation of the Research Committee.

Eligibility

The PhD Program is open to Nepali and non-Nepali nationals with:

  1. MPhil in Management or Masters' degrees in management with additional master degree in related areas
  2. Minimum 3.0 CGPA or 60% from universities recognized by Kathmandu University
  3. 17 years of formal education
  4. Applicant needs to submit concept paper in the area of one’s research interest

The last date for the submission of application form: Tuesday, 20 August 2024

Applicants are required to sit for Kathmandu University Management Research Admission Test (MRAT) and make presentation of the concept paper where applicable.
