Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) is a multidisciplinary program. It composes subjects such as dancing, design, sculpture, graphic communication, interior design, painting, drama, and music. Fine Arts essentially is an art form, which includes objects mainly created for a concept or aesthetic value.
BFA graduates will be skilled practitioners who will be able to express themselves through their art. The program helps to nurture the students’ talent and capabilities as it is the course where students will hone their creative practice through practical classes, instructions, and engagement.
BFA, an only a practical course of TU under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (TUFoHSS). In Nepal, Sirjana College of Fine Arts and Lalitkala Campus are two colleges that offer BFA affiliated with Tribhuvan University.
There are specific courses like Painting, Sculpture, and Music where students can prefer to do the specialization.
On the other hand, the BFA program offers by Kathmandu University is of four years, eight semesters course with 139 credits. Out of 4 years, 2 years will be the foundational course and the remaining 2 years will be based on specialization.
Students choose either Graphic Communication or Studio Art in Third Year with one Elective course from Illustration, Photography or Extra Traditional Art Practice enrolled in Kathmandu University.
