Government of Nepal, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Recommendation Committee for the Executive Director of Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) has published a vacancy notice for the Executive Director (ED) of NARC.

Vacancy Announcement for Executive Director (ED) of NARC

The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (ED of NARC Recommendation Committee) invites applications along with updated CVs and other relevant documents from the eligible candidates for the post of ED of NARC within 21 days from the first day of publication of this announcement i.e. Bhadra 19, 2080 (September 05, 2023).

Functions and Responsibilities

The ED's functions and responsibilities will be outlined in the Nepal Agricultural Research Council Act, 2048 (with amendments) and its regulations.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must:

  • Have at least a Master's Degree in Agriculture and Animal Sciences from any University recognized by the Government of Nepal.
  • Be working in any agriculture and animal science disciplines under NARC.
  • Have at least 10 years of working experience in agriculture-related research with 5 years of experience as a senior scientist (S-3 or above) in NARC.
  • Have a minimum of five research publications related to agriculture and livestock/animal sciences within the last 10 years.

Application package enclosures

The applicant has to submit, in a sealed and signed envelope, the followings:

  • Clearly filled in the application form
    • A clearly thought up innovative and realistic Business Plan (Strategic Vision and Action Plan, maximum 5000 words) on the candidate's original thoughts for strengthening NARC as an excellent and transformative agricultural and livestock research organization contributing towards the realization of the long-term national vision/goal of "Food Security, commercialization and sustainable agriculture," covering but not limited to the following areas (Three hard copies).
    • Agricultural research situation in Nepal: current status and future scenarios (also in the context of the pandemic, climate change, and natural resource utilization).
    • SWOT analysis of NARC
    • Identification of prominent problems/challenges in agricultural research under NARC and business plan to address them
  • Self-attested copies of your 5 best agricultural and livestock/animal science-related scientific research publications with evidence of publications.
  • Self-attested testimonials of all the academic qualifications as mentioned in the CV. The proof of working in NARC and their service period endorsed by NARC.
  • Applicant must submit an electronic copy for PowerPoint presentation based on Business Plan (maximum 20 minutes).

All documents should be submitted in a sealed envelope. The business plan, publications, and remaining documents should be included in 3 separate sealed envelopes mentioning titles for each within the main sealed envelope. The electronic copy of the business plan and its PowerPoint presentation should be submitted as separate files in a pen drive within the main sealed envelope.

The equivalence of certificates from foreign universities and provisional certificates of final degrees from Nepal should be submitted within the final submission date.

Application fee NRS. 3,000 (Three thousand only) should be deposited in Rastriya Banijya Bank Ltd, Revenue Account Number 1000100200010000 (office code No. 312003501, Revenue Title No. 14224), and submit the original voucher with the application.
