Melamchi-Ghyang Secondary School is a public institution located in the picturesque foothills of Langtang National Park in Helambu VDC, Sindhupalchok District, Nepal. Established in 1985, the school was founded to address the educational challenges faced by the Hyolmo community, the Himalayan indigenous people of Nepal, who lived in remote areas with limited access to formal education.
Over the years, the school has grown to serve 250 students, with 150 residing in hostels on the school premises. Its catchment area is diverse, attracting students not only from the local area but also from as far as Kathmandu.
The school takes immense pride in its academic excellence, consistently ranking at the top in the district for the past six years. The success is attributed to a dedicated team of 16 teachers, a collaborative effort between teachers, students, and guardians. The school operates in an English medium, introduced in 1996 (2053 BS), ensuring students acquire essential skills for the modern job market.
Melamchi-Ghyang Secondary School is more than just an educational institution; it is a sacred workplace where a team spirit fosters growth, and the focus is on providing personal care and opportunities for the children and the wider community.
