Surunga Municipality is one of the 18 municipalities in Saptari District of Madhesh Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 49,460, comprising 23,715 males (47.9%) and 25,745 females (52.1%), with a literacy rate of 67.69%. Spanning 107.04 square kilometers, Surunga Municipality exhibits the population density of 462 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 11 wards.
